The past 31st of December marked not only the end of 2017 but was also the final milestone of the latest project of IBERIAN OFFSHORE: the towage of a 160m long floating dock from Algeciras, Spain, to Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
The dock had previously been in service at CERNAVAL’S shipyard in Algeciras. Although it was generally in good condition, extensive works were required to refit the dock and to prepare it for the long towage to Abidjan, where it will contribute to the expansion of the current facilities of CARENA’s shipyard.
IBERIAN OFFSHORE performed the engineering design related to the strengthening of the dock, definition of towing points and seafastening of cranes. Our partner, COREMARINE, produced the stability and towing assessments. IBERIAN OFFSHORE also acted as liaison between the buyer of the dock, BOLLORE, and the technical authorities involved in the project, such as the marine warranty surveyor, classification society and local authorities, to facilitate the acceptance of the preparations by all parties in an efficient manner.
